Earth Day Celebration at Astoria Park
April 22nd from 2-5pm
Come out to help us celebrate the Earth and our beautiful Astoria Park with a festival sponsored by the Astoria Park Alliance.
We will be making seed balls, a great family-friendly activity while there will be many other things going on including live music, games, demonstrations, etc. So come on out and join the fun - look for the Hellgate CSA table and make something fun and good for Mother Earth! There is a full day's worth of events and activities planned for that day, so please check the Astoria Park Alliance website for the full schedule. No RSVP required.
Meet the Farmer - Season Kick-Off Event!
May 30th from 6:30 - 8pm
This is the moment we've all been waiting for...the Hellgate CSA season kick-off Meet the Farmer Event! For those of you who have been with Hellgate CSA before, this is one of the best ways to meet other CSA members in our community, meet the farmers whose delicious produce and other goods we'll be enjoying all year long, and hear more about "what's new and good" with our farms this year. We'll have some snacks and beverages as well. This is a family-friendly event. Bring your questions for our farmers!
Where: The Hellgate CSA Distribution Location at 27-20 Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria, NY 11105
Strawberry Picking and Farm Tour at Green Thumb Farm
June 24th at 11am
Ah, the strawberry picking event and spring tour! If you've never picked a strawberry directly from Green Thumb's grounds and popped it in your mouth, you've never tasted a strawberry. No, really. And if you have, you know that Green Thumb's strawberries are a limited-time delicacy that you'll want to stock up on. Farmer Ray and his team will give a tour of the spring and early summer crops and answer questions, then will turn you loose to pick some strawberries to take back with you. This event is for Hellgate CSA members and their share partners/family members who enjoy the share with them. We regret that we cannot accomodate those who are NOT Hellgate CSA members due to the popularity of this event. This is a very family-friendly event! Please note the weather and dress accordingly (hot, cold, windy, muddy, etc) to set yourself up for an enjoyable time. The farm usually offers a couple of different times, so feel free to call the farm stand at 631-726-1900 to inquire about other available tours. Need a ride? RSVP separately, per below.
Do you have an idea for an event? Let us know and we'll work with you to help plan and promote the event and post it on the schedule for next year.
