Pumpkin Tour and Hayride at Green Thumb Farm!

Take a hayride of the CSA's primary farm, visit their farmstand, indulge in the sights, smells, and tastes of autumn, and take home a free pumpkin.  Kids of all ages welcome.

Tours are scheduled for 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 1:30 PM.  To participate, call the farm at 631-726-1900 to reserve space in the tour of your choice.  Some tours may fill up early.

As our longtime members know, Green Thumb Farm is a blast to visit and hard to get to except by car.  It takes 90-120 minutes to get there.  Directions and a map are available at

Event: End-of-Season Celebration!

Category: 

Join your fellow CSAers for a relaxed get-together to celebrate the end of a wonderful season. Holiday-style snacks and sweets, wine, beer, and other beverages will be offered.  Families are welcome; drop by or stay awhile.

Space is reserved for Hellgate CSA at the 12:30 pm tour.  Tours will also be offered at 10:30, 11:30, and 1:30.  If you prefer a different tour, please call the farm by Friday to reserve a spot then and cancel your spot in the 12:30 tour.  The farm's number is 631-726-1900.

Save Summer's Harvest--Learn to Can!

It’s peak fruit season—save the summer’s bounty by learning to can! CSAer AJ Simone will show you all the basics you need to know for preserving the harvest. This particular class will make strawberry lemon preserves, which will be raffled to a lucky participant at the end. Hot Water Bath Canning 101 Wednesday, June 29 7:00-10:00 pm. $5 suggested donation Space is limited! Seats must be reserved—send an email to hellgateevents@gmail.com. Instructions and recipes will be handed out; be ready to take notes.

The bus leaves at 9:00 am sharp from the parking lot at Astoria Park (roughly 19th Street/24th Road) and returns at about 4:00 pm.

In between, we'll tour the CSA's primary farm, visit their farmstand, enjoy lunch on the lawn, and gorge ourselves on sweet summer strawberries right off the vine.

Please bring a sack lunch.

Suggested donation: $10 per person, $20 per family (2 or more)
