I am a member of the CSA and it's my first year and I love it - BUT I'm a student and I've had a summer session class on Tuesdays for the past two weeks and my fall session I'll also have a Tuesday class. I would like to sell the remainder of my share.

At distribution today you may have been mystified at those funny looking root vegetables at the end of the table. Well, that's kohlrabi, one of the brassicas; the most familiar brassica is broccoli, so they are related. And actually, it's not a root vegetable, technically - the edible globe is the plant's swollen stem.
In honor of our first basil share this week, I've decided to focus on pesto. This is the best time of year for basil, and what better way to use it than making pesto? I have been making this amazing concoction for many years, but only this year have I learned to make really good pesto.
August is here and so is the hot dry weather. No rain in the last two weeks has begun to stress out some of our crops, especially the greens - lettuces, chards, beets, and herbs. With our wide selection of crops, many are still starting so we should have plenty for the next couple months.
